To promote Defence Sector manufacturing in India, in line with the “Make in India” initiative of the Government, there is a need to educate the investors about the opportunities available in Defence manufacturing Sector. A Defence Investment Cell has taken over erstwhile Defence Investor Cell, which was a Single Point of Contact under Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, to provide all necessary information including queries related to invest-ment opportunities, procedures and regulatory requirements for investment in the sector.
The Department of Defence Production (DDP) is set up with the twin objectives of developing a robust production infrastructure and achieving substantive self reliance in design, development and production of Defence Equipment, Weapons Systems and Platforms. Over the years, the Department has established wide ranging production facilities for various defence equipment through the Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) and from the year 2001 onwards through licensed private sector companies.
